Sites of Interest
Mix and match an Hiking in Israel adventure with a historical or religious site of interest.
Below are are few of the many options.

Beit She’arim
The most important burial place in the Jewish world during the
Mishnaic and Talmudic periods. Built on a low hill in the western part of the lower Galilee, the residents of Beit She'arim dug an ornate necropolis deep into the ground. Courtyards, corridors, and staircases lead to the catacombs with their burial chambers and stone tombs. The chambers and tombs are decorated with bas-reliefs, epitaphs, and frescoes.  Beit She'arim was also an important center of Torah study, thanks to Rabbi Judah HaNasi (also known simply as Rebbe), the leader of the Jews in the third century C.E. Rabbi Judah HaNasi lived in Beit She'arim, made it the seat of the Sanhedrin and moved his own study hall there. Rebbe died circa 220 and was buried in a cave in Beit She'arim.

Emek Yizrael Valley
A beautiful view of Mt. Tabor where Devorah the Prophetess routed the Cana’anites 3300 years ago.

Jethro's Grave
A tour of Jethro's, (Moses' father-in-law) gravesite. The Druze have their main temple there. They believe that Jethro will be their messiah. Visitor's are allowed to enter the temple.

Mount Arbel
Hiking in Israel : Mount Arbel, like Masada was a Jewish outpost against the Romans. Here was one of the fiercest battles during the Roman attack. The Jews were hiding in the caves in the middle of the cliff, and the Romans couldn't reach them, as they would have to rappel down or climb up to get to the caves. The Jews would throw rocks at them as they were climbing up and they would fall.

Participants hike up the cliff, at the top there is one of the nicest views in Israel, with a panoramic view of Northern Israel, including the Kinneret.
